The annual Surfing Doctors fundraising raffle kicked off in April at the Margaret River Drug Aware Pro. Tickets were sold at the FOAMLUST expo (www.foamlust.com ) at the Margaret River Cultural centre, a satellite shapers and surf lifestyle event associated with the competition where Phil did an excellent talk to a crowd of 100 about remote medical emergencies in international surfing locations. Local GP Dr Allan Walley also presented findings from an audit of all surfing-related injuries occurring in the southwest of WA over last year. Over 200 tickets were sold west-side before the raffle moved south to the Rip Curl Bells Beach Pro over Easter.
Nick, Wendy, Troy & Jon put in the yards encouraging punters to visit our Bells site stall (whilst keeping an eye on the epic surfing happening below the cliffs!) and selling in excess of 250 tickets over the long weekend. Big thanks to our friends & family for stepping in to help staff the stall over this busy time and also to Surfing Victoria and the ASP for supporting us on site this year.
We are very thankful for the ongoing support of our raffle partners in offering such fantastic prizes which this year which included: (1st) 1 week stay @ Macaroni’s Surf Camp, (2nd) 1 wek budget package @ G-Land Surf Camp, (3rd) a custom Nathan Rose surfboard and (4th) a Micro Organics hamper.
Money raised will go towards 3 worthy public health projects Surfing Doctors are supporting including: Namuga Hospital in the Solomon Islands, the sanitation project at Sibalu village in the Mentawais and the G-Land Surf Camp infirmary to continue our work fixing the broken out on the reef.
The draw will occur in the next few weeks so keep hooked to the website to see if you’ll be a lucky winner and last minute tickets can be purchased through Nathan Rose Surfboards in Margaret River for a limited time.
