My elective at G-Land started in the early season when the trade winds had not fully kicked in. This meant the camp wasn’t heaving but there was still some solid swell around and so we scored plenty of fun sessions out front to ourselves – especially the morning and evening glass offs. The resident doctor […]

I took a trip out to Macaronis in the Mentawai islands early November and got really lucky with some decent swell so late in the season and minimal crowds. The wave delivered frequent 4-5 foot sets that threw perfect barrels and fun walls all the way down the reef. I’m sure I don’t have to […]

Tom here signing on for an overdue elective report, currently basking in the stoke of what was an amazing 6 week trip. Outside the window it’s pissing it down and 11 degrees (but a big Atlantic swell forecast this weekend so its not all bad).
Short video of my Indonesia/medical elective trip May-Aug 2014. Filmed in Bali, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, G-Land (g-landsurfcamp.com/ –> best camp on the point) and the Mentawai islands. I stayed at a surfcamp called Matungou in the northern Mentawai islands (matungou.com) – highly recommend going there! All filmed with my gopro3+ black and a few sequence shots from DSLRs.
Dr Dave Hateley with the Solomon Island / Namuga Project crew. Surf Docs gave them R1,000 to assist them with equipment purchases for their medical centre.
