Who is your favourite surfer and why?
Present : Matt Wilkinson – His backhand is amazing and he’s a fellow goofy footer who weighs over 80kgs who can’t do airs. Definitely someone I can relate to.
Past : Andy Irons – He drew different lines to all the other pro’s and his style is timeless.

Heaviest experience while traveling?
I perforated my appendix in Whistler BC which resulted in a week in hospital and 15 grands worth of medical bills. Another heavy experience was when I first paddled out at 8 foot pipe after not having a wink of sleep for two days due to air transit – I got dry docked right in front of backdoor and wore 4 set waves on the head – thought I was actually going to die.
What is the best thing about the life you have chosen?
I’m a big fan of the ‘work hard play hard’ motto, the life I’m living enables this.
