Dr Nikolas Hoediono Joins The Team…

Introducing Dr Nikolas Hoediono

We welcome Dr. Nikolas Hoediono and his brother Dr. Alex Hoediono to the team.

Tell us a bit about yourself, Nick?

I’m originally from a pretty boring town in Ontario, Canada. Despite being dealt this privileged yet ocean-less hand, I grew up in a family that valued the outdoors and spent our weekends doing action sports. We love to skate, kite, wakeboard, snowboard, rock climb, mountain bike, and of course surf when we got the chance. Eventually I moved to Dublin Ireland to complete my medical degree. Between Ireland and visiting siblings in Australia is when I really started to surf on a consistent basis. I’m currently living in Sydney Australia where I hope to surf and travel around Australasia.

What is your education and work experience?

I completed medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, obtaining a Bachelor in Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics.

What is your current position?

Medical Intern

Where is your local surf spot?

It was Bundoran, Ireland, now Dee Why Point, NSW, Australia…

What sort of travel experience do you have?

I’ve been around through Canada, US, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and French Polynesia. Mostly for other sports/activities, so looking to do more surf driven trips!

Favourite surf destination?

So far my favourite is Ireland, but I’m sure that will change in the future. Big winter swells, reeling reef breaks, shallow slabs, low crowds to no crowds, what more could you want? But don’t bother going, as the locals say, “it’s cold, rainy and blown out.”

What is the best bit of advice you were ever given with regards to surfing?

You can never be too deep.

Who is your favourite surfer in the world and why?

Dane Reynolds. Power, style, and unpredictable!

What is your current go-to surfboard?

Still looking for that magic stick! If I had to pack three boards right now, it’d be the Chilli Rarest Bird, JS Monsta 8, Pyzel Next Step.
