Checking in with Australian goofy-footer Jeremy Lynch, who is heading over to the Melbourne Wave Pool Conference
Nationality
Australian
Current Position and Role
I currently work as a locum doctor, mostly within cardiology and general medicine. The role involves moving between hospitals and departments, which keeps things varied and exposes me to a broad range of clinical situatio
Education and Professional Background
I studied medicine at Griffith University in Australia. Since graduating, I have worked across a number of hospital environments, gaining experience in different areas of medicine while continuing to develop a particular interest in cardiology and internal medicine.
Medical Interests. Have You Found Your Niche Yet?
I am still searching for the perfect niche. At the moment, I really enjoy both general medicine and cardiology. Both fields offer complex problem-solving and a wide range of patient care situations, which keep the work interesting and challenging.
Local Surf Spot
My usual go-to surf spots are Dreamtime at Fingal Head and D-Bah. Both breaks offer consistently good waves and are places where I enjoy surfing with friends whenever conditions line up.

Favourite Surf Destination
G-Land is my favourite surf destination. The wave quality and the atmosphere there make it a special place, and it is the sort of location that stays in your mind long after the trip is over.

Travel Experience. Best Surf Trip Ever
G-Land was an incredible trip and definitely stands out. I have also had a great time surfing the Mentawais, which delivered excellent waves and memorable sessions.
Worst Surf Trip Ever
Hawaii. The surf was terrible while I was there, which was frustrating given the reputation and expectations that come with that destination.
Best Thing About Surfing
Getting barrelled with your mates is hard to beat. Surfing also provides a way to disconnect from everything else going on in life and just focus on the moment.
Best Advice You Were Ever Given About Surfing
Go hard or go home. It is simple advice, but it captures the mindset that helps when you are committing to waves and pushing your surfing.
Favourite Surfer in the World and Why
Mick Fanning. His speed and powerful turns have always stood out. The way he combines flow with raw power makes his surfing incredibly exciting to watch.
Current Go-To Surfboards (Make and Model)
Lost Mayhem boards are my current go-to choice.
