The best thing about surfing?

It’s exercise, but it’s also really fun. By far, it’s my favourite health/fitness/wellness strategy.

Best advice you were ever given with regards to surfing?

Watch what the locals / experienced do.

Favourite surfer in the world and why?

Callum Robson – Been in the top 20 in the world for the last 2 years without a major sponsor. No nonsense. Despite this, he is working his guts out to continuously improve and compete at that top level and absolutely ripping. Kieren Perrow – Unassuming local legend. Pipe Master = Hero status. Bronte Macauley – Called me into a couple of waves at wildish, wobbly North Point one day and has been on my favourite list ever since. Plus, she rips! Particularly her backhand attack.

Current go-to surfboards? (make and dims)

I’ve put on about 10 kegs up to 103kg since having a baby, so boards with some foam!

Crisp 6’5 x 19 1/2 x 2 11/16 – When the waves are decent

Crisp 7’2 x 20 x 2 3/4 – When the waves get big

Christensen Swallow tail fish – Small waves

On order: MR Super Twin to commemorate my time in Newcastle. Frothing for it.

6’7 x 20 7/8 x 2 3/4
